| Bio: | This journal follows the experiences of We are currently awaiting to hear about a litter of kittens. Stay tuned. My philosophy is this: an animal is not a toy, and it's not perfect. Even a cat or a dog is still an animal, and it thinks and acts like an animal. Animals can be hurt and traumatized just like people, and they need a safe environment to heal and relearn how to be a healthy, happy pet. Just like a damaged person, they can make mistakes and poor decisions while trying to keep from being hurt again. I like cats as much as I like people. When I take a cat into my home, I don't expect it to be a good, perfectly behaved cat. I expect it to be an individual. I want it to feel safe, to be unafraid of making mistakes or of expressing its feelings. I want it to be comfortable asking for affection or food or help or reassurance that everything's going to be okay. People who have been hurt respond well to love and patience. So do cats. I hope that someday our foster cat will be strong and self-confident enough to try again in another permanent home. When she does, we'd like to foster another cat and give it the same safe, loving home we're offering this one. Another goal of this journal is to inspire and encourage other people to foster cats and dogs in need. The demand for foster families is enormous. If you think fostering is for you, please contact your local shelter or rescue organization and they'll be more than happy to let you help. If you'd rather just follow our adventures, that's fine, too. Its fear reached inside Reg and gradually dissipated. Reg opened himself up to it, and it accepted and approved. It... she... had been overwhelmed by the confusion and the sheer bigness of the world. She didn't understand or like the loud, volatile beings that had surrounded her. It hadn't always been like that... at the beginning of time, there was a great Mother and she was third of a group of small equals, and the world was pleasantly warm and dark and small. At first she gradually became aware of more and more in the world, and it was curious and fun. She had liked discovering things. But then the new bigness spiralled out of control. She craved sameness and stillness. Reg sympathized deeply. He often felt the same way. He called her 3 and she called him safe. | |||||
